Marion, Washington, Fayette, and Effingham Counties all remain at the medium level for COVID-19 transmission.
The weekly update from the CDC shows Marion County with six new hospitalizations for the week ending September 9th. There are only six other counties at the medium level, with the rest remaining at the low level.
Hospitalizations and deaths are now used to determine at what level each county is at for COVID-19 transmission since the number of cases is no longer tracked.
Marion County Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow says only one congregate care facility in Marion County remains on outbreak status. That Centralia facility has 19 positives in residents and staff as well as three hospitalizations.
