Betty Sisson, 92, of Salem, went home to join family, friends and our heavenly Father on Tuesday, September 10th, 2024, peacefully with her family by her side. She was born July 20th
,
1932, in Opdyke, Illinois to Wayne and Helen (Kelly) Floyd. She was raised by her grandparents H.P. and Alma Kelly. She later married Charles Sheridan Sisson in Centralia. Illinois.
Betty is survived by four children: Rebecca Gadus (Ron) of Fort Worth, Texas; Sara Warren of Salem, Illinois; John Scott Scrivner (Brenda) of Hoyleton, Illinois, and Ronald Kent Scrivner (Marie) of Victoria, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Charles Sisson; her parents: Helen (Bob) Jones and Wayne Floyd; her eldest son Wayne Ray Gowler; two sisters: Marjorie Hutchcraft and Alma Louise Brectafeldt.
Betty thrived when offered any opportunity to serve her community. She gave selflessly and sat on boards, committee’s and volunteered wherever there was a need. She served as past president of Women’s Junior League of Salem and past president of Business and Professional Women. She loved dancing, flowers, and receiving cards. Betty loved others with a special heart for children.
She successfully owned and operated Kiddie Korner Day Care in Salem for decades and still received gratitude and recognition from the now-grown children and families.
A private family graveside memorial will be held on Saturday, September 21st, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the City of Salem Animal Control Shelter and will be accepted at Sutherland-Rankin Funeral Home, 310 North Broadway/ P.O.
