Sarah A. Kues passed away peacefully on September 16, 2024, in Breese, IL, just days after celebrating her 99th birthday. Sarah was born in Posey, IL on September 10, 1925, a daughter of the late James and Bertha Clark.
Sarah was married to her first husband, Tilford Taylor, on September 15, 1943, until his passing on September 19, 1971. She found love again with Karl G. Kues, whom she wedded on December 17, 1977, and who predeceased her on November 26, 2020. Her love and legacy continue through her surviving children, Bertha Murphy, Lillian Laux, Jim (Fran) Taylor, Joyce (Gary) Butts, and Tilford “Leroy” Taylor, all of Carlyle, and Sally (Sam) Bumgarner of Sebring, FL; son-in-law Virgil Rakers of Bowling Green, KY; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
She was welcomed into heaven by her parents, and her beloved husbands; her daughter, Beverly Rakers; sons-in-law Jack Murphy and Richard Laux; her grandson Jamie Butts; and her siblings, Mary Phelps (Doyle), Bill Clark (Adeline), James “Sonny” Clark (Marcella), and Anna Mae Foster (Freddie).
Throughout the years, Sarah worked at Moran Shoe Factory before serving up joy and comfort as a cook at the Clinton County Senior Center. Sarah found happiness in the blooms of her flower garden, the thrill of playing Bingo, and in the kitchen baking pies Above all, her heart was fullest when surrounded by family.
Funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Zieren Funeral Home, 1111 Clinton Street, Carlyle, IL. Interment will follow at Posey Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Zieren Funeral Home on Saturday from 9:30 – 11:30 AM.
