Ronald “Ron” Eugene Atchison, 76, of Dix, went to be with his Savior on September 8th, 2024, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
He was born on November 2, 1947, in Centralia to Wayne and Edith (Atchison) Mays. On May 28, 1967, he married Nancy (Zack) Atchison, they shared 57 years together.
Beyond his wife, Ron is survived by sons: Ron (Michelle) Atchison of Centralia, Mike (fiancé’ Mandy Taylor) Atchison of Dix and Ronald (Donna) Oglesby; one sister: Sheila Smith of Junction City; grandchildren: Dustin Atchison, Mike (Heather) Atchison, Alexis (Jason) Leinicke, Ronnie Oglesby, Becky (Gary) Monical and Mellisa (Joe) Taulbee; along with many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews as well as several special friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his daughter Crystal Atchison, son: Donald Oglesby, parents: Wayne and Edith Mays, brothers: Charles Mays and Jr. Mays, sister: Debbie Rowcliff, and several special friends.
Ron was the owner of Atchison Coating in Centralia for over 43 years. He will be remembered for being a man of faith and for his kindness and helping anyone he could. He loved going to auctions, flea markets, traveling, and the mountains, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren. Ron’s favorite bible scripture was Proverbs 3:5&6
A Graveside service will be held Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 1:00pm at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia with Brother Eddie Alford officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made honor of his great grandson to the Cerebral Palsy of Southwestern Illinois and will be accepted by Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois, 62801, (618)5323523 who is honored to be of service to the Atchison Family at this time.
