2024 09/18 – Patsie Leona Hardcastle Schleuter

Patsie Leona Hardcastle Schleuter, age 89 of Salem, passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024, at HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon.

Patsie was born on November 23, 1934, in Cambria, Illinois the daughter of Adrian and Ruie (Vaughn) Thomas.  She married Leymone Hardcastle on May 17, 1952, in Pocahontas, Arkansas and he preceded her in death on October 2, 1998.  She then married Van Schleuter and he preceded her in death as well.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan Harper and husband Tom of Palmetto, GA; daughter-in-law, Annette Hardcastle of Kell; grandchildren, Patrick Harper and wife Melissa, Niles Harper and wife Kelly, Sara Rollins and husband Paul, and Samuel Hardcastle; and great-grandchildren, Kylee, Emmylou, Zac, Quinn, and Madison.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Adrian and Ruie; husband Leymone; husband Van; son, Randy Hardcastle; and a granddaughter, Nichole Hardcastle.

Patsie was a dedicated member of the Salem First Baptist Church, where she faithfully served in the deaf ministry and Sunday School. She was a devoted homemaker and partner in Leymone Hardcastle and Co. Patsie had a passion for painting and collecting antiques, and she took great pride in her home, always finding joy in decorating and making it a warm, welcoming space.  She enjoyed being a part of the “Cambria Girls” and loved spending time with her family.

A Funeral Service for Patsie Leona Hardcastle Schleuter will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at the Salem First Baptist Church with Dr. Andy DeWitt officiating.  A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the church.  Interment will follow at East Lawn Cemetery.  Memorial contributions can be made to the Salem First Baptist Church and can be left at www.CrouseFH.com.
