When you think of Salem Bowling, obviously the first name that comes to mind is coach Steve Ludwig. He has become the most successful coach in the history at Salem Community High School. He will also be the first to tell you it would not be possible without the quality bowlers that have gone through the program.
Names like Alex Henseler, Stephen Bryant, Lauren Hays and Charlie Hunter, names synonymous with success at the high school level and beyond. And the next name on that list could be coming through the program right now.
Salem junior Silas Moats won the 2023 Valley Park Missouri Regional U18 Boys PBA Jr Championship. He secured the win with a 266 final game, the highest game of the tournament. This is the 2nd time in as many years a Salem Wildcat won this tournament with eventual state champion Charlie Hunter winning last year.
Moats also competed this summer at the SYBC National Bowling Championships in Indianapolis and finished 63rd out of 1313 competitors. He will be a big reason along with 3 other returning players from last year’s state championships team if the Cats are going to make a run at a repeat.
