Marion County Treasurer makes first distribution of tax money

Marion County Treasurer Gary Purcell has made his first distribution of property tax money from this year’s payments.

In all, $24,231,230 is being distributed.  More than half will go to the county’s grade and high schools…$13,511.505 in all.  Cities and TIF districts will receive $2,689,977.  Marion County will get $2,785,792.  Township Road and Bridge Districts are receiving $1,032,942.   Fire districts are in line for $1,229,980.  Township governments will receive $784,437.   The Centralia Regional Library is getting a check for $280,042.  Salem Township Hospital will get $145,316.  The Salem Airport Authority is receiving $37,553.  Multi Township Assessor Districts will split $44,719.  Odin Cemetery is getting $2,666.  Kaskaskia College has been sent a check for $1,609,297.

Purcell is reminding taxpayers the second installment of real estate taxes is due September 27th.  The bills may be paid at financial institutions, by mail, online at IL.marion.com, or may be dropped off at the drop box on the west side of the courthouse.
