The Marion County Sheriff’s Department collected the most units of blood during the Battle of the Badges at the Salem Community Center on Wednesday and their pairing with Salem Police won this year’s trophy for the competition.
The sheriff’s department brought in 20 units of blood. Salem Police collected another 11 for a total of 31 to win the title.
The Salem Fire Protection District finished second individually with 12 units of blood brought in. They were paired with United Medical Response which collected two units of blood for a total of 14 units.
Overall the drive collected 49 units of much-needed blood for hospital patients.
