The Salem Youth Football Wildcats swept their JV and Varsity games at Carbondale Saturday. The JV won 26-20 in overtime. Ben Lux had 3 touchdowns and Emit Gibson also scored. Davian Garrison and Eli Purdy both ran the ball well and Purdy had the game sealing interception to end the game in OT.
The Varsity won 6-0. The game was scoreless at the halftime break. Salem possessed the ball the entire 3rd quarter and 2 minutes into the 4th when Kyler King capped off an 85 yard drive with a touchdown. Salem possessed the ball 13 of 16 minutes in the 2nd half. Defensively Scout Puricelli and Troy Keele each had pass break ups. Rylan Lawson had a sack and Rhett Starnes added a tackle for a loss. Cory Cano recovered an onside kick as well.
The 3rd/4th grade scrimmaged at home with the Green Team beating Team White 20-0.
Salem will be off this weekend.
