Salem Strength Team’s Monty Murphy and Tim Crwaford both competed at the USA Powerlifting Bench National in Phoenix, Arizona in the Masters 1 Raw Division. Monty in the 90 kilogram weight class finished 2 for 3 on his attempts for the day, missing his 3rd attempt to break his current Illinois State Record with 369.4 pounds. His makes were at 347.4 pounds and 358.4 pounds.
Tim competed in the 140 kilogram division. He was 2 for 3 on his attempts as well, setting a new personal record of 424 pounds on his 2nd attempt. He also hit from 402.5 but failed at 435.6.
Both athletes took 1st place in their field and combined for a Masters Raw Team Championship. This makes consecutive team titles having won the team championship last year as well. Tim will focus on his next competition on October 7th at the USAPL Missouri River Open in St Louis. Monty will take a short rest and focus on coaching athletes at the USAPL Indiana Fall Brawl in Terre Haute on September 3rd.
