A 35-year-old Centralia man escaped with only minor injuries following a single-vehicle rollover crash in Walnut Hill late Friday afternoon.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department reports Robert Schergen was traveling westbound on Walnut Hill Road (Main Street) when he failed to negotiate a 90-degree turn in the road in downtown Walnut Hill. Due to the wet pavement, he slid into the roadside ditch and overturned.
Schergen was able to get out of the vehicle on his own before emergency help arrived.
The sheriff’s department was joined on the scene by the Centralia Fire Protection District and Lifestar Ambulance.
The crash was reported at 4:45 Friday evening.
