For the 3rd straight year, a team from Southern Illinois has won the Colt World Series. With 2-time defending champion Marion eliminated, it was time for Southern Illinois to pull it off as they beat Youngstown, Ohio in last night’s finals 2-0 at Thrillville Park in Marion. Anna’s Aaron Sheffer had an RBI triple to give Southern Illinois the early lead and they would hold on with solid pitching from Carterville’s Brady Phillips who earned the win, Waltonville/Sesser Valier’s Brandon Menser got the final out of the game to preserve the win. Carterville’s Drew Barrington scored what would turn out to be the game winning run early in the contest.
Team Mexico’s Erik Castillo was the 2023 Colt World Series Batting Champion for his performance over the tournament.
