The fire chiefs in Marion County have come together to jointly issue a temporary burn ban in the county until there is some measurable precipitation.
The chiefs say they will evaluate the situation in a timely fashion and update as conditions change. They strongly suggest that no one burns as conditions are extremely dry and no large amount of precipitation is in the immediate forecast.
The temporary burn ban includes the Centralia Fire Protection District, Centralia City Fire Department, Sandoval Fire Protection District, Odin Fire Protection District, Patoka Fire Protection District, Kinmundy-Alma Fire Protection District, Salem Fire Protection District, Iuka Fire Prevention District, and Kell Fire Protection District.
As of this time, the burn weekend planned in Centralia this Saturday and Sunday is canceled.
