In one of the wildest high school games you will see, the Salem JV Wildcats traveled to Mount Vernon and came away with an extra-inning win, 22-11. The Cats scored 12 runs in the extra frame to blow the game open. Salem trailed 8-0 after the 3rd inning when defense and walks let them down. Avery Gullion came in to squash the rally. That’s when the Cats started their comeback. Salem scored 11 runs in the 5-6-7 innings to take an 11-10 lead. The Rams would tie it setting up the crazy extra inning.
Gullion earned the win with 4.1 innings of great relief work. He scattered 5 hits and allowed 1 earned run with 6 strikeouts. Payton Gullion was the starter going the first 2.2 in the no decision. Evan Barnes worked the 8th. At the plate, Brody Collier drove in 4 runs and scored 3 times. Carter Lowe had 2 hits including a long triple with 3 runs and 3 RBI. Payton Gullion also drove in 3 runs on 2 hits and scored. Eli Lograsso finished with 3 hits, including 2 doubles and scored 3 runs at the top of the order. Aaden Rostance was 4-5 with 2 RBI and Avery Gullion had 2 hits and drove in 2. Brendan Smith scored a run, Keytin Grawe was hit twice and scored 3 times with Alijah Carroll adding a hit and scoring twice.
