The Central City Village Board has more than doubled the size of its upcoming renovation project at village hall.
The board at a special meeting Monday night approved an additional $14,600 in work bringing the total project to $27,500.
The work will include installation of new vinyl plank flooring, painting of the front office paneling, entry and hallway, police room, both restrooms and the board room, remove and replace all drop ceilings, and installation of two new toilets.
The work is being completed under a build Illinois Grant. The village has $174,000 available under the grant and until now less than $7,000 has been spent.
The board also agreed to terminate the drug and alcohol testing program for village employees because they no longer have equipment that requires a CDL. There was concern because the same employee had been randomly been selected to be drug tested during the last three periods. The board left open the option of rejoining the Mid-West Truckers Association program if they added equipment in the future that needed a CDL operator.
