The IHSA 3a/4a baseball state tournaments began yesterday at Duly Health & Care Field in Joliet. The Effingham Hearts dropped their 3a semifinal to Grayslake Central 9-1. They will play today in the 3rd place game at 9am against Sycamore after they lost to Nazareth Academy 3-0. The 3a state title game will follow.
The Edwardsville Tigers are 1 win away from repeating as state champs winning their semifinal over Elmhurst York 7-3. They advance to tonight’s state finals at 5:30 against Brother Rice who shutout New Trier 4-0. The 3rd place game will be at 3pm.
