The Salem JV Wildcats traveled to Vandalia to play their Senior Legion team yesterday and dropped a pair of games. Salem fell in the opener 5-4. Both teams plated 4 runs in the opening inning before the pitching settled down on both sides. Aden Rostance had a hit and drove in 2 runs with Avery Gullion and Alijah Carroll adding hits. Eli Lograsso, Carter Lowe, Brody Collier and Colton Rogers all scored runs. Rostance went all 6 innings on the mound allowing 6 hits and 5 runs with 3 strikeouts.
Salem ran out of steam in Game 2 as they fell 16-6 in six innings. Lowe tripled and drove in 2 runs, Collier doubled and drove home a run. Avery Gullion and Payton Gullion added hits and RBI with Rogers driving in a run. Evan Barnes was the starter and worked 2 innings, Eli Lograsso and Avery Gullion worked the final 4.1.
The JV Cats are 2-4 on the season as they will host Newton today for a double header at SCHS High School Field starting at 5pm.
