The Salem Wildcats Varsity summer baseball team improved to 4-0 on the season with a pair of wins over Breese Grey. Salem won the opening game 15-1. Josh Powless drove in 4 runs, Rhett Detering had 3 RBI with 2 each from Jalen Inlow and Noah Nix. Gavin Zimmermann added an RBI and Kam Wilkins scored 3 runs. Keaton Gullion singled and scored twice. Rhett and Ryan Detering combined for the win on the mound. They allowed 3 hits and no earned runs combined.
Game two was tied at 5 in the sixth inning when the Cats exploded for 7 runs in their final two at bats for a 12-7 victory. Powless drove in 3 runs with 2 RBI each from Rhett Detering, Nate Paulson and Aden Bass. Gavin Zimmerman scored 4 times, Wilkins scored twice and Gullion added 2 walks and a run. Jalen Inlow was the winning pitcher going 6 innings allowing 4 earned runs with 7 strikeouts. Wilkins got the final 3 outs. The Wildcats head to Highland for a double header today.
