Freeburg head coach and Athletic Director Matt Laur will be making the move and become just the 3rd head coach in the past 49 years at Pinckneyville High School. He will be replacing Bob Waggoner who stepped down after 16 seasons. Laur turned the Freeburg program around that had been mired in sub-.500 basketball for years until he came and got them back into competitive play. He was the coach there beginning in 2015. Before that he coached at Steeleville High School as well as an assistant coach on the SIU-Edwardsville staff as they were making the jump to Division 1 basketball.
