The Marion County YMCA along with the City of Salem Recreation Department will once again host Family Fun Day in Bryan Park Saturday from 10-2pm. Most of the action will be taking place near Shelter #7 across from the Salem Aquatics Center.
Recreation and YMCA Director Jed Casburn says it’s always a great family orientated event he looks forward to every year.
“Family Day is just a huge tradition here in Salem. I’m real big on community and I hope everyone else is too. So it’s a big community day and always been a great turnout. They provide food, drinks, games and you know that’s what Family Day is here for. Promoting, giving and just having a lot of fun.”
The Southern Illinois All Star Bass Club will open up the day with their Youth Fishing Tournament at the pavilion across from the hospital near the Salem Resevoir. Sign up is at 7:30 with start time around 7:45 a.m.
Area churches, groups and organizations will be offering food, games and prizes for those who attend. Casburn thanked all of those who made the day possible.
