South Central’s season came to an end falling in the Altamont Sectional finals to the top team in the state St Anthony 6-1. Andrew Magnus sac fly accounted for the only Cougar run and that came in the top of the first. The Bulldogs scored a run to tie in the 2nd and then went ahead with a run in the fourth before pulling away with 3 runs in the fifth. St Anthony advances to Monday’s 1a SIU-Carbondale Super Sectional where they will play Goreville after their 5-4 win over Waltonville/Sesser Valier in 11-innings to win the Cobden sectional.
