Baseball:  The baseball postseason continued last night.  It will be an all-National Trail Conference Sectional final at Altamont after both South Central and St Anthony took care of business last night.  The SC Cougars opened the night getting a gem from starter Anthony Buonaura as they edged Arcola 2-0.  Not only did the starter need strikeout 14 and walk 1 in the complete game, but only threw 84 pitches to do it. He also homered in the game.

SC will play St Anthony in the finals after their 12-0 win over Casey Westfield.

Christ Our Rock opens the Greenville University Sectional today with a 4:30 game against Greenfield.

In 2a, Father McGivney beat TTown at Breese Central 4-1.  They will play the winner of today’s game between Columbia and Newton.

In 3a regional semifinals at Mount Vernon, the host Rams routed Carbondale 14-4.  Tyler Kemp and Charlie Houle had 3 RBI each with Houle moving to 9-1 on the year with the complete game win.

Softball:  The IHSA softball postseason continued yesterday.  Columbia advanced to the Freeburg 2a Sectional finals after their 12-8, 8-inning win over Flora.  They will get the 1-loss host Midgets in the finals.

At South Central in the 1a sectional semifinals, Casey Westfield beat Altamont 15-0 with pitcher Paige Cutright striking out all 15 hitters she saw in the perfect game.  Casey will play Windsor/Stew-Stras for a trip to the Supers.
