A resolution has been approved by both the State House and Senate to name old US 50 through Clinton County as Clinton County Veterans Memorial Road.
The resolution will allow signs to be put up to mark the Clinton County Veterans Memorial Road. However, it will not change the addresses of homes and businesses along the route.
State Senator Jason Plummer pushed the resolution through the Senate which passed 56 to 0.
“In Clinton County, I want to highlight a special group of veterans. They are mainly Vietnam Veterans but there are a few others. They still get together all the time as a group. They building wheelchair ramps for folks across Clinton County who are in need of assistance. They help out with youth organizations. They build homes for different folks. I think it is safe to say these Clinton County veterans served our nation probably 40-some years ago and they are still serving proudly today.”
The resolution earlier passed in the Illinois House under the guidance of Charlie Meier. The governor does not have to sign the measure.
