Bond has been set at $250,000 for a 39-year-old Centralia man on two Class X charges of predatory criminal sexual assault to a person under the age of 13.
Zachary Boyer of South Maple had a public defender appointed to represent him during his first appearance before a Judge on Thursday.
Centralia Police report the investigation began when they were contacted by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services about a possible sexual assault case that occurred in Centralia. The Centralia Police Investigations Division, along with the Amy Center, conducted an interview of the victim.
After a thorough investigation, Boyer was arrested by Salem Police at his place of employment and taken to the Marion County Jail.
If released on bond, Boyer was ordered to have no contact with any minor. A preliminary hearing is set for June 13th.
Centralia Police say the case is still under investigation and other charges are possible.
