Last night the 1a regionals opened up. Christ Our Rock eliminated Odin/Patoka/Sandoval at home 17-0 in 3.5 innings. The Stallions were led by Colton Oelze who had 3 hits, 3 runs and 3 RBI. Jayden Bazile also had 3 hits and 3 runs with an RBI, Myels Pryor drove in 2 along with Ethan Peltas and Omari King. Pryor was the winning pitcher allowing 4 hits and striking out 7 in 4 innings.
Upset at South Central last night as the defending 1a state champion and sub-sectional #2 seed North Clay lost their opening game to Dieterich 4-3 allowing no earned runs in the game, but 6 errors spelled doom. Logan Fleener had 3 hits including 2 doubles and drove in a run. Ayden Jones had 2 hits with a double and RBI with Carder Walden also driving in a run. Garret Niebrugge had 2 RBI for the Maroons who will advance to take on South Central.
The 3rd seeded Cougars shutout Red Hill in the 2nd game last night 6-0. Anthony Buonaura was 2-3 with 2 RBI and was also the winning pitcher going 5 innings allowing 1 hit and striking out 6. Aidan Dodson worked the final 2 innings for the save and struck out 3 and didn’t allow a hit. Ethan Watwood also had a hit, run and RBI.
In 1a regional semifinals today at Brownstown, the Altamont Indians will take on the home Bombers. Carlyle takes on New Athens at Christ Our Rock.
Also in 1a regional scores St Anthony nipped Beecher at Brownstown 4-1, Waltonville 10-0 over Woodlawn, Casey beat Okaw Valley 8-2 at Neoga, Pawnee over Mulberry Grove at Nokomis 2-1 in eight innings, Windsor/Stew-Stras beat Tuscola 10-0 in five innings to advance from Tuscola and at Valmeyer it was Gibault 3-1 over Dupo.
