Salem Police have arrested four juveniles age 13 and 14 for felony criminal damage to state-supported property in connection with the destruction of picnic tables and benches at the city’s new Bryan Memorial Park Shelter.

Chief Kyle Ambuehl says the four were among six interviewed about the damage after police received a tip about those involved.

The four were released to their parents and will receive a notice to appear in juvenile court.

Salem Public Works have already replaced the tables and benches that were torn from the shelter, broken up, and thrown into a nearby creek.   The damage was discovered on April 16th.

Ambuehl is uncertain if the most recent vandalism of carvings into the wood panels of the table is in any way related to the original damage.
