The Salem Lady Cats split their games at the Wesclin Tournament on Saturday. Salem lost the opener to Carlyle 4-0. Maya Susmena, Breanna Thurman, Olivia Paulson and Lauren Burge all singled.
In the 2nd game, Salem beat Wesclin 14-2 in five innings. Thurman got the win striking out 6. Makenna Smith drove in the go ahead run with a walk-off 3 run h omer. Lilly Blagoue also homered, here 12th of the season. Susmena, Thurman, Paulson, Marah Johnson and Burge all added hits. Blagoue, Paulson, Johnson, Smith and Miranda Podergois all drove in runs.
The JV Lady Cats went 1-1 on the day beating Dieterich and losing to Robinson. Salme played with 8 players due to an injury. Bria Murray got the win in game 1 and was 5-6 on the day at the plate. Willow Amburgey, Alivia Rasul and Mia Bookhout all had 3 hits. Jaelyn Keller was on base 4 times.
The 2a regionals begin today. Althoff is at Marquette, Eldorado goes to Benton, Sparta is at Chester, Hillsboro at Litchfield, Vienna is at Massac County, Murphysboro hosts DuQuoin, Paris at home against Pana, Roxana hosts Wood River, Vandalia welcomes Lawrenceville, Greenville goes to Staunton and Harrisburg is at West Frankfort.
