Selmaville, Raccoon & Central City Girls Show Well At Class S State Meet In DuQuoin….Woodlawn Wins Boys Title

It was a busy day at DuQuoin High School for the Class S Girls State Track Meet on Saturday.  St Joe-Olney won the girls team championship with 38 points followed closely by Waltonville with 36, Lick Creek was 3rd with 32 and Woodlawn was 4th with 31.5.

The Lady Rockets Carly Veach had a busy day as he finished 5th in the 400m in a time of 1:03.66.  She was also 2nd in the 100m hurdles in a time of 17.11.

Selmaville’s Emily Guzman ran the 8th grade 200m in 29.18 good for 12th.  Karmen Murray was 15th in the mile at 6:17.72 with Raccoon’s Kylee Hall right behind in 6:19.78.  Shelby Johnson 15th in the 800m in 2:57.54.

The Selmaville 4×100 relay team of Corrina McGee, Alana Finney, Alana Howe and Guzman was 13th in a time of 57.06.

Central City’s 4×200 team of Emily Rupe, Madison Ramey, Addy Dukes and McKenna Vandeveer was 10th in a time of 2:01.08.  Their 4×400 team of Sienna Feig, RaeLynn Keeley, Ryleigh Claybourn and Madison Ramey finished in a time of 5:16.12 good for 16th.

In the field events, Veach was 13th in the long jump at 13’10.5”with Addy Dukes (CC) right behind in 14th in 13’10”.  Veach was also 2nd in the 7th grade 100m in 13.76.

Raccoon’s Emily Parrett was 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 33’1” with teammate Maya Braddy 4th with a throw of 31’1”.  Parrett also finished 10th in the discus throwing it 77’2”.


Woodlawn Wins Boys State Title, Raccoon 4th

The Raccoon Devils placed 4th as a team at the Class S State Track Meet held at DuQuoin over the weekend.  Woodlawn was the team champ with 84 points followed by Adams-Creal Springs with 47.5, Pinckneyvill with 36 and Raccoon 34.  Central City was 8th overall and Rome 10th.

For Raccoon in the field events, Michael Organ is the state champ with a throw of 131’9″.  Field’s Xander Ashby was 9th throwing 109’11” and Carson Griffith of Central City 10th at 107’10”.

In the high jump, Field’s Sailor Clugston was 6th jumping 5’2″.  In the long jump, Selmaville’s Riley Tate was 2nd with a jump of 17’9.5″ and Jacob Ellis of Central City was 13th jumping 15’7.25″.  Central City’s Carson Griffith was 3rd in the shot put throwing 43’11” with Iuka’s Leland Wombles 5th at 42’9″.

Tyler Carruthers was 4th in the 8th grade 100m in 12.37.  Rome’s Ryker Perigo was 7th in the 200m in 25.87 with Selmaville’s Riley Tate 14th in 26.44.  Rome’s Jayden Jones was 2nd in the 400m in 55.21 with Raccoon’s Carruthers 4th in 55.68.  Central City’s Jacob Ellis was 12th in the 400 in 58.52.  In the 800m, Field’s Sailor Clugston was 10th in 2:22.22, Rome’s Jones 11th in 2:24.20 then Carson Pigg of Centralia St Mary’s in 2:24.43.  Wyatt Gregory of Central City finished in 2:29.69.  Caden Lamb of Raccoon was 13th in the mile run in 5:18.55.  In the 100m hurdles, Raccoon’s Luke Connaway was 3rd in 15.59, Iuka’s Kaeden Bevolo 11th in 17.15.

In the 7th grade 100m, Goewey (Central City) was 13th in 13.6 and his teammate Lawrence Cooper 15th in 14.02.  The 7th grade 4x200m relay it was Central City’s team of Goewey, Drew Jack, Cooper and Kruz Jackson running 9th in 1:57.04 and the Patoka/Odin team of Hunter Thompson, Dane Jolliff, Ashtyn Hagan and Quintin Faulkner 13th in a time of 2:04.12.

In the 4x200m relay, Raccoon’s team of Carruthers, Organ, Alton Davis and Connaway were 2nd in 1:42.57.  Central City was 3rd in 1:42.62 which included Ellis, Archie Goewey, Preston Feig and Will Stanton.  Rome was 10th in 1:46.86 including Jayden Jones, Kroeschen, Ashton Wagner and Perigo.  In the 4x400m relay Rome was 3rd with Junkins, Perigo, Wagner and Jones running in 4:02.8.  Central City finished with Kolby Murray, Lawrence Cooper, Preston Feig and Goewey running 11th in 4:16.  Raccoon’s team of Carruthers, Organ, Davis and Lamb ran 15th in 4:20.86.
