Lady Bobcats Were Few But Mighty At Class L Meet

The Franklin Park Lady Bobcats had a small contingent qualify out of a very tough Centralia Regional to compete at the Class L State Meet in Carterville on Saturday.  But what they lacked in size, they made up for in heart as they set many new PR’s and came home with some individual hardware.

Led by 8th grade discus thrower Brylee Pennypacker as she finished 3rd with her toss of 99’.  Emily Runyon scored in the pole vault with her clear of 8’ to finish 5th.  Blaike Jourdan cleared 6’6” in the event.

The Lady Bobcats left some pretty impressive PR’s on the track as well.  Kayleigh Jarrett ran a new PR in the 7th grade 100m in 13.70.  Maddy Dulaney PR’d in the 200m in 28.83.  The 4×100 team of Jarrett, Pennypacker, Quinn Wolfe and Dulaney ran in a new PR of 1:57.35.  The 4×200 team of Alison Thurman, Jarrett, Wolfe and Dulaney PR’d in 1:57.35.

Wolfe Branch won the girls team title with 69 points.  Murphysboro was 2nd with 46 followed by Millstadt with 44 and 4th was Belle Valley with 42.

Also area athletes of note, Centralia’s Sha’Mary Maines-May was 7th in the 8th grade 100m in 12.83  Mount Vernon’s Kennedy Bas was 3rd in the 800m in 2:32.62
