The Christ Our Rock Lady Stallions competed at the IHSA Sectional Track and Field meet today at Chester High School and I’m proud to announce we have two girls that are State Bound in the 3200 meter run!
Junior Sarah McKowen is the IHSA Chester Sectional Champion 3200 meter run champion winning the race and breaking her own school record in a time of 12:15.5. Her teammate Soph. Rylee Brammeier will also be joining her at the IHSA State Meet at Eastern Illinois University as Rylee was runner up finishing 2nd in the race in 12:40.5, a personal record for Rylee.
Both Girls will be making their 2nd trip to State Track as Mckowen qualified last year in the 800 meter run and Brammeier will make her 2nd appearance in the 3200 meter after qualifying last track season as a freshman!
Sr. Bianca Adubato also brought home a sectional medal in the Triple Jump (31’9.0″) finishing 4th place with a PR!
Coach Tim Koch told WJBD/WSIQ, “I just feel so blessed to coach great kids that put the work in and continue to be successful! To see Sarah and Rylee finish 1st and 2nd in our Sectional, I was overcome with emotion and fighting back tears of joy! Being a former distance Runner, it feels great to see your athletes succeed and achieve their goals in the distance events! These kids and I have been working for 2 years to build our distance program and achieve success! They-re always hungry to achieve more but the last 2 years these kids have been amazing and have worked to make CORLHS distance running recognizable! I’m so happy for Sarah and Rylee and very proud of their commitment! I’m also thankful to Sarah’s father Chris Mckowen for everything he does! Hess the best assistant coach a team could ask for!”
