A nurse who began her career at Salem Township Hospital 47 years ago was honored on her retirement Wednesday afternoon.

Carolyn Dailey was presented with a clock and other items by the hospital and fellow staff members at a retirement ceremony.  Did she anticipate having such a long career.

“Probably not for 47 years but I always wanted to be a nurse when I was a little girl.  I was a Candy Striper my junior and senior year at high school and went to KC in nursing school.  I started here in August of 1975.”

Dailey says she has no particular plans in retirement, but her husband may have plans for her to be more involved in their farm.

Dailey notes there has been a lot of changes in medical equipment since she first started.   She especially enjoyed her time in the surgery department where she has worked most recently.
