Salem High School Seniors earn $745,000 in scholarships

The graduating class at Salem Community High School has been awarded scholarships totaling around $745,000.

The scholarships and a number of special awards were handed out during Senior Awards Night held at the high school on Monday.

Marissa Wooters was named outstanding senior of the year.  Ellee Bumgarner was named Senior Volunteer of the Year.  The Student Council Outstanding Member Award was presented to Maya Susmena.

The Outstanding Math Student was Daniyal Islam, the Outstanding English Student Ashlyn Carson, Outstanding Family and Consumer Science students Kenadie Hancock and Marissa Wooters, Outstanding Nursing Assistant Students Maisie Griffin and Maryssa Hendricks, Outstanding General Studies Student Kaitlyn Brown, Outstanding Science Student Daniyal Islam, and the Outstanding Social Studies Students were Areesa Eisenhauer and Donovan Garren.

The Outstanding Spanish students were Daniyal Islam, Reagan Troutt, and Zoe Waggoner.  The Outstanding Artist Award was presented to Seth Ulrey.  Allyson Murphy won the Outstanding Vocalist Award.  The John Philip Sousa Award was presented to Teyah Cape.  The Outstanding Drama Students were Ashton Baldridge and Alayna Williams.

The Senior Technology Award was presented to Zoe Waggoner.   The Building Trades Student of the Year was Davier Bullard.  The Auto Student of the Year was Kyle Kurwicki.  The Outstanding Physical Education Student Awarded went to Kyle Kurwicki and Bianca Shults.

Ellee Bumgarner and Kyle Kurwicki were honored for perfect attendance in all four years of high school.
