Results of Cahokia Conference Track and Field Championship – Champ To Be Decided Today

Well the Mississippi Division has not been concluded yet. The champion will be crowned after the pole vault event has been determined. That is supposed to take place this afternoon at Breese Central, weather permitting.

The Wildcats will be represented by senior Alek Bandy and freshman Holden Richardson. The otherĀ 17 events took place at East Alton Wood River on Tuesday. After the 17 events Freeburg held the team lead with 151 points, with Columbia in second with 144 points, Roxanna in third with 87 and Salem next in line with 86 points.

Roxanna has no vaulter so the Wildcats are in good shape to move into third.

Results from the meet for the Wildcats, Caleb Smith won the discus and shot put with personal best throws of 59’2.5″ and 178’9″. Cole Johnson picked up thirds in both of those events. Miking Ettress won the long jump with a leap of 20’10”.

Sean Thornton was first in the 100 meter dash in a time of 11.47. The Wildcats 4×200 relay team had been making improvements and continued with a season best time of 1 minute 32.8 seconds to capture the gold. That team is made up of Thornton, Ettress, Sam Greene, and Jervace Mayes.
Other highlights were Ryegan Warren and Austin Woolridge placing 4th and 5th in the high jump. Connor Tennyson picked up a 6th place in the triple jump, Hunter Malan a 6th in the 3200, Robbie Shober with a personal best and a 4th place finish in the 1600 meters in a time of 4:52. Ettress and Mayes were 4th and 6th in the 200 meters. While the 4×100 relay team of Tennyson, Greene, Thornton, and Ettress were 4th. The 4×800 team of Branson Pappas, Caleb Purtiun, Bandy, and Shober were 5th with a season best time. Carson Huggins and Richardson had personal best times in the 110 hurdles, Caylan Patteron and Woolridge had personal best times in the 400 meters. There were great efforts from the Wildcats.
