Marion County State’s Attorney Tim Hudspeth says State Police are still investigating a fatal Thursday night crash at West Main and Hotze on Salem’s west side.

Hudspeth says once their report is done, including technical and scientific evidence, he will review it to determine what charges, if any, should be filed.

The crash claimed the life of 66-year-old Nita Mobley of Salem.

Preliminary crash information indicates she was making a left turn from West Main onto South Hotze when she was struck by an eastbound pickup on West Main driven by 21-year-old Justin Bullard of Iuka.

Both Bullard and a passenger, 25-year-old Austin Back of Iuka, were taken to Salem Township Hospital and later airlifted to a St. Louis Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Mobley’s vehicle caught fire after impact.  The Salem Fire Protection District was called to put out the fire as well as remove Bullard who was trapped in the pickup truck.
