Fire heavily damaged a Central City mobile home on Friday afternoon.

Centralia Fire Protection District Chief Ross Boshera says the occupant of the mobile home at 322 North Park had left the home a short time before the fire began.  The cause of the fire at the Shirley Smith residence has not been determined and has been turned over to the State Fire Marshal’s office.

Boshera reported flames were shooting from the bedroom area of the mobile home upon their arrival.   While firemen were able to confine the actual fire to one end of the mobile home, the entire structure received heavy smoke and heat damage.

A Central City Policeman on routine patrol first discovered the fire.

The home is owned by Doug Myers.

Both the Centralia City Fire Department and Sandoval Firemen provided mutual aid on the scene.  Odin and Irvington Firemen stood by at the Centralia Fire District station in the event of another fire.

The fire call came in at 2:05 Friday afternoon.   Firemen were on the scene for about six hours.
