The Franklin Park Boys and Girls track teams won 2 more regional title yesterday in the Class L Region 8 meet held at Centralia High School. On the boys side, Salem finished with 158 points followed by Casey Mount Vernon with 117, Olney 3rd with 60.5 and Centralia 4th at 50 points. On the girls side, Salem had 107 points, Olney second with 87.5, Flora 3rd at 65 and Casey finished 4th with 51.5.
Advancing to state for Salem were Kyler King in the 7th grade 100, Trey Clark in the 200, Payton Gullion and Avery Gullion in the 400, Alex Spencer in the 800 and 1600 as well as the hurdles along with Madden Thompson. Also the 4×100 team of King, Thompson, Ettress and Clark, the 4×200 team of Thompson, Gullion, Gullion and Clark and the 4×400 team of Gullion, Skylar Clark, Spencer and Gullion who won in a PR time of 3:52.8. In the field events for the boys, moving on to state were Thompson and Avery Gullion in the high jump, Nate Lowry in the pole vault, Marquis Ettress in the long jump as he set a new Franklin Park school record going 18’2.5”, Silas Lux in the shot, Trey Clark in the discus.
Advancing on the track for the girls were Kayleigh Jarrett in the 7th grade 100, Maddy Dulaney in the 200 as well as the 4×100 team of Jarrett, Pennypacker, Wolfe and Dulaney, the 4×200 team of Thurman, Jarrett, Wolfe and Dulaney. In the field events advancing were Emily Runyon and Blaike Jourdan in the pole vault, Brylee Pennypacker in the discus.
Franklin Park will travel to Carterville High School on Saturday, May 13th for the Class L State Championships.
