The Salem Wildcats could not have asked for a better seed heading into the final few weeks of the regular season. The Cats will be the 3-seed in their sub-sectional feeding into the Breese Central Sectional. Newton is the top seed and Flora 2 with Salem 3. The regional hosts will be Newton and Greenville.
The other sub-sectional features the top 2 Class 2a teams in the state with undefeated Father McGivney the top seed and one-loss Columbia #2.
In what is the best 1a Sub-Sectional complex in the state of Illinois, Sub-Sectional A feeding into the Altamont Sectional will feature 4 of the state’s top 7 ranked teams all in the same sectional complex. The State’s #1 team is St Anthony and they are the 1 seed followed by North Clay and South Central 2 and 3, each have been ranked 1 this season and Altamont is 4th. South Central and Brownstown will be the regional hosts.
Christ Our Rock is the top seed in their sub-sectional that feeds into the Greenville Sectional. They are also are regional host along with Valmeyer. OPS Eagles are the 8 seed.
The Salem Lady Cats will be the 2-seed in their sub-sectional behind just top-seed Newton with Flora and Greenville being the regional sites. They will feed into the Freeburg Sectional and the Johnston City Super Sectional. Freeburg is the top seed in the other sub-sectional. Salem will get a chance to even their season series on Tuesday when they travel to Freeburg to finish conference play.
In 1a feeding into the South Central Sectional, SC is the #1 seed in their sub-sectional and will be a regional host along with Altamont.
OPS is the 5-seed in their sub-sectional feeding into the Hardin Calhoun Sectional. Christ Our Rock is 6th with Marissa and New Athens the regional sites and Carlyle the #1 seed.
