The Blue Angels Softball team saw a 15 game winning streak come to an end at the hands of the Southwestern Illinois College Blue Storm, here at home as the ladies closed out their regular season on Monday. The Blue Angels took game one in five innings by a score of 8-0 with help from home runs off the bats of Freshman Amber Russell and Kadee Milligan, and Sophomores Sydnee Garrett and Ivy Smart.
Rolling into game number two the Blue Angels were just not able to sustain that offensive success.
SWIC jumped on the board fast with two big innings to start the contest. The Angels put up a huge seven run spot of their own in the second inning, but after that the game got away from the team and they ended their regular season with a loss 17-7.
Now the prescription is rest, which the team will do until Saturday when they are home for their first series of the 2023 playoffs. Game time and opponent are to be determined.
Remember also that the Blue Devils Baseball team will play here at home this afternoon against McKendree University. Game time is slated for 3:00 pm.
