The Salem Elks are celebrating Elks National Youth Week next Monday through Sunday.
On Thursday, the Salem Police Department, Salem Fire Protection District, United Medical Response, and Salem Emergency Management Agency will set up their equipment on the Elks Parking lot starting at 3:30. The event is designed to give everyone a chance to see the vehicles up close. The Elks will be serving hot dogs and soft drinks to all in attendance.
The event has been coordinated through Salem Community High School Resource Officer Craig Viera and Elks Youth Coordinator Brad Hargis.
The Salem Elks say they are involved in a number of youth activities throughout the year. They include the Hungry Hearts food program each summer when students are out of school, scholarship opportunities, the annual Elks Hoop Shoot, and several Sunday Chicken Dinner Fundraisers to support local youth groups.
