Salem is coming off a big 5-4 win at Freeburg yesterday.  Salem took an early 1-0 lead in the 2nd only to see the Midgets answer with 2 of their own in the 3rd to take the lead.  Salem would tie it at 2 in the fifth.  Both teams scored a pair in their halves of the 6th and the Cats would take the lead in the top of the 7th on a Colton Shelton RBI single.  Shelly also earned the win in relief of starter Noah Nix.  Shelton was in a jam in the bottom of the 7th with the bases loaded and just 1 out and the tying and winning runs in scoring position.  Salem induced a 6-4-3 double play to put the game away.  Nix worked 5.1 allowing 7 hits and 4 earned runs with 5 ks.  Shelton worked 1.2 innings for the win.  Kam Wilkins doubled and drove home a run.  Isaak Williams had 2 hits and 2 RBI with runs batted in also from Jalen Inlow.

The Salem Wildcats are back in action today with a double header on the road.  The first game will be at Highland against the host Bulldogs followed by a game with Unity.

The Salem JV trailed at home to Freeburg 11-3 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning when out of nowhere Salem turned it around scoring 6 times in the sixth and then 3 times in the 7th to walk it off 12-11.  Brody Collier drove in 3, 2 RBI from Braden Rector who went 4-4 at the plate and scored 3 runs, Cody Beard drove in 2 and an RBI each for Aden Bass, Ryan Detering and Colten Starnes.  Collier started on the mound and was relieved by Aden Bass and Aden Rostance.
