Americana Outdoors in Salem has been presented Kaskaskia College’s Business and Industry Partnership Award.
The company was lauded for its heavy involvement with the college in workforce development including the creation of an apprenticeship program and the hiring of a number of graduates.
Americana Vice President Geff Purcell accepted the award on behalf of Americana’s dedicated team of employees.
“We understand the critical role a skilled workforce plays in the success of not just our company, but the well-being of the entire community. So that is why working with the partnership at KC has been so important for us. KC has tailored programs to help us. We welcome serving on advisory boards we think that’s part of the community outreach that needs to be done by more businesses. We are proud to sponsor the welding competition which is just things that help us and the community. We are proud of the work we are doing and the opportunities these partnerships bring.”
Purcell expressed his gratitude to College President George Evans, the President’s Cabinet, the Board of Trustees, and everyone involved in the selection process. Purcell called their commitment to workforce education truly commendable. He notes while they receive this recognition, he wants to focus on the future and continue working together to support the growth and success of the entire region. Purcell believes that collaborative partnerships like theirs can have a transformative effect on our community and help create a brighter future for everyone.
