Blagoue’s 2 HR’s Set Season Standard, Salem Earns 16th Win
Salem returns to action today at home against Columbia in Cahokia play. They improved to 16-3 on the season with a road win at Mount Vernon yesterday 6-5 after trailing 5-1 in the fifth inning. Breanna Thurman was the starting pitcher striking out 4 and also drove in a run at the plate. Lilly Blagoue made history crushing 2 home runs giving her 8 on the season, the single season record at Salem. She also was the winning pitcher in relief strking out 9. Marah Johnson hit her 5th of the year, a go ahead 2-run shot in the 5th. Olivia Paulson, Thurman, Maya Susmena and Miranda Podergois all had hits.
Lady Cougars Comeback To Beat OPS
SC knocked off Odin/Patoka/Sandoval 6-4 scoring 5 runs in the top of the sixth inning to take the lead. Jaylyn Michel had a single, double and drove in 4. Brooklynn Garrett homered and Kyra Swift tripled home a run. SC is 17-5 and will host Christ Our Rock on Wednesday. Hailey Lane led Odin with 2 hits and 2 RBI. Trista Moore and Macey Spicer both had hits for OPS. They are 13-5 and will travel to Elverado tomorrow.
