COVID-19 numbers remain low across South Central Illinois

COVID-19 numbers for another week remain low across South Central Illinois.

Marion County Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow reports no COVID-19-related deaths in the week ending Thursday.   All Marion County Congregate Care facilities remain off outbreak status.

The Centers for Disease Control reports there were four new COVID-19 cases in Marion County in the week ending Wednesday with no new hospitalizations.

Clinton County had three new cases and one new hospitalization.  Jefferson County had 14 new cases and one new hospitalization.  Wayne County had four new cases and one new hospitalization.  Three other area counties had no new hospitalizations.  They were Washington and Clay Counties which had one new case apiece and Fayette County which had three new cases.

Statewide, the Illinois Department of Public Health reported 5,278 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 statewide in the week ending April 9th along with nine deaths.

As of Thursday night, 558 individuals in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19.  65 of those were on ventilators and 22 were on ventilators.
