Wildcats Win 7th Straight, Head To Benton Today
The Salem Wildcats won their 7th straight game and have gotten a game above .500 at 10-9 with their road win at Breese Central 5-2. Salem sweeps the season series with Central after scoring 3 times in the top of the 3rd inning when Aden Susmena walked and Salem got 3 straight 2 strike hits from Jalen Inlow, Noah Nix and Griffin Day to take a 3-0 lead. Connor Freeze would make it 3-2 with a long 2-run double in the bottom of the inning. Salem would get much needed insurance in the seventh when Inlow and Day came up with big RBI to extend the lead to 3. Colton Shelton came in to relieve Griffin Day and got the final out of the game with the tying run at the plate. Day was great on the mound going 6.2 allowing hits and 2 runs with 7 strikeouts. Salem will head to Benton today for an added game to their schedule.
North Clay Comes Back To Beat #1 Ranked SC In Extras
When South Central and North Clay meet up on the baseball diamond, one thing is for sure. Nothing is for certain. 4 days after being no-hit by the state’s top ranked and undefeated team, North Clay overcame a 4-0 deficit with scoring 4 times in the bottom of the seventh inning to send their game into extras. Cody Zimdars then sent the home fans home happy with a walk-off single. SC got RBI from Anthony Buonaura, Andrew Magnus, Brody Markley and Maddux Robb. Zimdars finished with 2 RBI for North Clay along with Carder Walden. Ian Jones was the winning pitcher. SC falls to 15-1 on the season while North Clay improves to 13-4.
CORLHS Falls At Father McGivney
Christ Our Rock falls for just the 2nd time this season losing at Father McGivney 15-2. The Stallions only tallied 1 hit in the 4.5 inning game coming from Jayden Bazile who also scored. Lendon Isaiah drove in 2 runs and Christian Nollman also scored.
