Lady Cats Head To Breese, SC Falls, OPS Wins — Prep Softball Roundup

The Salem Lady Wildcats take their 12-2 record to Breese Central this afternoon for a softball contest.

The SC Lady Cougars play today at CHBC.  SC is coming off a tough 8-7 loss at TTown after trailing 7-0 heading into the top of the sixth, SC would plate 7 runs to tie the game before the Shoes plated the go ahead run in the bottom of the frame.  Kyra Swift had an RBI along with Kaitlyn Swift, Taegen Webster and Abi Shuler also drove in runs with Jaylyn Michel adding 2 RBI.  SC is 11-5 on the season.

The OPS Lady Eagles are at home with Wayne City. The Lady Eagles beat Dieterich 17-7 yesterday using a 15-hit attack.  Trista Moore had 4 hits, 2 home runs, and drove in 6 runs.  Macey Spicer, Rheagan Rollinson, Kenzie Wilkerson and Maddie Garrett had 2 hits each.  Lauren Robb added a solo home run.  Spicer was the winning pitcher as the Lady Eagles are 10-4 on the season.

In other action…

Yesterday, O’Fallon knocked off Centralia 9-3 scoring 6 in the 2nd inning to pull away.

Mater Dei improved to 11-1 with a 5-2 win over Gillespie in a battle of state ranked teams.  Katy Huels hit a 3 run homer.  Maddy Huels had 3 doubles and 2 RBI in the win.

A CRAZY game as Murphysboro beat Herrin 28-24 in 8 innings.  The 9 combined home runs is the most in an IHSA softball game ever.
