This year’s Mascoutah Military Classic was loaded with talent.

Cahokia brought home the title in the 20 team meet, with Edwardsville taking second and Mascoutah third. The Wildcats finished 9th overall with 28.5 points.

Alek Bandy picked up the .5 point with a 8th place tie in the pole vault with a clearance of 11’6. Miking Ettress was 7th in the long jump with a jump of 20’8.

Sean Thornton was 7th in the 300 hurdles with a time of 43.01. While the 4×2 relay team of Ettress, Jervace Mayes, Sam Greene, and Thornton were 7th with a season best time of 1:34.6, this same group had a season best 46.03 in the 4×100.

The Cats picked up most of their points in the throws, with Caleb Smith placing 2nd in both the shot put and the discus, his best throws were 57 ‘1 ” in the shot and 162’5 in the discus. Cole Johnson placed 4th in the discus with a throw of 149’ and 5th in the shot with a throw of 44’6.

“We were looking for some answers in some spots and had some of the young guys step up with personal bests, a couple of those being  Angel and Caylan in the 400 meter distance. This was a great meet for Caleb and Cole to compete in and both came up strong. Also a good test for your sprint relays group,” said coach Mike Hargis.

The F/S Salem Invite is Tuesday starting at 4 and varsity will be heading to Sparta on Friday.
