The Salem Wildcats knocked off Fairfield on the road 11-1 in five innings. Salem plated 4 runs in the opening inning and 5 more in the fourth as they outhit the Mules 13-3. Griffin Day led Salem’s offense with 2 hits including a double and 3 RBI. Also driving in Salem runs were Noah Nix, Drew Davis, Isaak Williams, Kam Wilkins, Nathan Paulson and Josh Powless. Jalen Inlow added 2 hits and 3 runs and Keaton Gullion got his first varsity hit and scored a run. Aden Susmena singled and scored. Davis was the winning pitcher going all five innings allowing 3 hits and 1 run with 6 strikeouts and no walks. Salem is right back in action today when they host Roxana in Cahokia play.
The SC Cougars travel to GCS Stadium in Sauget this afternoon trying to run their record to 12-0 when they play the Comets of Greenville.
Christ Our Rock will play at Maryville Christian today after beating them on Tuesday at home 15-0. The Stallions beat Neoga 8-5. Da’mari Dabney doubled home 2 runs in the top of the 7th to give Christ Our Rock the lead. It was one of two doubles for Dabney on the day. Myles Pryor went 3-3 with a double and 2 runs scored with an RBI, Colton Oelze and Parker Boehne also drove in runs.
Odin/Patoka/Sandoval beat Okawville on the road 10-3. Wade Volkel was the winning pitcher. OPS got hits from Tyler Huffman, Wade Cain, Logan Haines, Hunter Lane and Cambden Parrish. The Eagles will travel to Ramsey today.
Also in baseball yesterday, Altamont shutout Cumberland 6-0.
Mater Dei beat Centralia 14-6. Urban Stark got the win. Wil Harris had 3 hits and scored 3 runs. Jacob Hustedde and Wade Sabo had 2 hits each all for the Knights.
Carbondale lost to Herrin 6-5. The Terriers play at Mount Vernon today.
