The remains of Master Sergeant Merritt Leroy Wynn are back in Centralia.
Officials of the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia picked up the remains at St. Louis Lambert Airport late Tuesday afternoon and transported them back to the funeral home in preparation for a one pm Saturday funeral service at Elmwood Cemetery.
Traci Macz of the funeral home reports that Sgt. Wynn’s flight started from Hawaii early Monday. He had around a seven hour layover in Dallas before arriving in St. Louis at five pm. With great honor full military personnel traveled from the airport to Macz Funeral Home to place him inside the funeral home. They were escorted by area firefighters and law enforcement which also hung large US flags over the roadway in Centralia.
Wynn’s remains were identified late last year after North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un turned over 55 boxes of remains of American Service members to President Donald Trump in July 2018.
The procession for the funeral service will begin at 12:30 p.m. from Irvin Macz Funeral Home to Elmwood Cemetery in Centralia. Everyone is cordially invited to line Elm and Gragg Street in support of this hero and the family that mourns him. At Elmwood Cemetery, Master Sergeant Wynn will be honored with military rites performed by the United States Department of Defense and our local Centralia VFW Post 2055 and American Legion Post 446.
