The Salem boy’s Track and Field team competed at the Olney Invitational on Thursday. The Cats were 4th in the 10 team meet with 94 points. First place finishers included Caleb Smith in the discus and shot with throws of 162-6 and 56-1. The 4×200 relay team of Jervace Mayes, Same Greene, Miking Ettress and Sean Thornton PR’s in 1:35.96.
2nd place finishers for Salem included Ettress in the long jump in 20-5.5, Hunter Malan in the 3200 in a PR of 10:54.71 and Mayes in the 200 in 24.25.
Finishing 3rd was Cole Johnson in the discus at 151-6, The 4×100 relay team of Ettress, Mayes, Thornton and Greene in 45.79 and Thornton in the 100m in a time of 11.93.
Coach Mike Hargis said, “We had a lot of good efforts today, several of the guys stepped up and filled in some gaps, due to illness and injury.”
The Fresh/Soph will travel to Highland on Tuesday and the whole team returning to action next Friday at Mascoutah.
