Wildcats Fall To Belleville West In Heartbreaking Fashion, Head To TTown For DH Today
The Salem Wildcats dropped a heartbreaker to visiting Belleville West yesterday losing 2-1 for the 2nd straight game after the Maroons plated the go ahead run in the top of the 7th. Belleville scored first in the top of the 3rd, but Salem answered as starting pitcher Gavin Zimmerman launched his first home run of the season in the bottom of the inning, a solo shot, to tie the game. Zimmerman was also good on the mound allowing just 7 hits and 2 runs with 5 strikeouts. Noah Nix doubled, Kam Wilkins singled and Aden Susmena walked twice. The Wildcats are 3-8 on the season and are back in action today with a double header at TTown starting at 10am.
SC 8-0 With Win At Carlyle, Will Battle Casey & Breese Central Today
South Central improved to 8-0 on the season with a road win at Carlyle 10-2. Up 1-0 in the fourth, SC plated 4 runs to pull ahead and put the game away. Andrew Magnus drove in 2 runs along with Zane Montes with RBI also from Chase Thompson, Anthony Buonaura, Max Magnus and Ethan Watwood. Buonaura and Brody Markley added doubles. Callaway Smith finished with 6 innings pitched for the win allowing 3 hits and 2 earned runs with 7 strikeouts. Coen West got the final 3 outs, all via strikeout, in the 7th. The SC Cougars return to action today on the road playing Casey and Breese Central.
